Spending time in God's creation

November 4, 2016

Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

One of the ways  I love to get rid of stress and anxiety is spending time in God's creation. Just being around tall trees and even open woods and just being able to be still and hear the birds sing and feel the sun shining down on you. Just in that moment you can feel the Father's love. You can see God's love in His creation. If you look very closely and look at how the trees were made and if you are by a stream and listen to the sound of the ripples of the water and just "Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10. Sometimes just listening to the birds of the air it can sound so beautiful and sounds like a love song to your ears from God. Or hearing crickets on a warm summer night can brighten your day anytime.(One of the best sounds in my opinion) You can hear or feel the light gentleness of the wind and that can remind you of how the Holy Spirit is. He is like a gentle wind and give you a gentle touch of His love. Whenever I am at a park and walking around or just checking out nature myself I suddenly feel a relaxation coming over me and a lot of my worry and stress go away. Because when you spend time in nature you can just forget about the things of this world and it's a beautiful way to spend time with God. For me I could sit out on the deck for hours and not even want to go inside. It really calms me down.
"He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul" Psalm 23:2

What are some of the ways that you love to relax and spend time with God? Do you have a special moment through out the day where you know you can just relax and let go of all your fears and worries and just be in the presence of God? "Do not be anxious about anything. But in every situation, by prayer and petition. With thanksgiving, present your requests to God" Philippians 4:6
