I have noticed through out my journey it is important to have friends who understand you and know what you are going through and that support you. For me, I also need friends who will not only understand me and my struggles, but who also will help and encourage me along the way in our relationship with God. That is very important. Be careful in the friends that you choose and the people who hang out with you. They either bring out the best in you or bring out the worst in you. It's your decision on who you want to be. But that only happens when the person who you become reflects on who you hang out with. You become like your friends, because you hang out with them all the time and look up to them. It talks a lot in the Bible about friendships and how having good friendships are very important. Not friends who tear you down and bring out the worst in you. Here are some example verses
"Do not be misled. "Bad company corrupts good character" 1 Corinthians 15:33
"One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother" Proverbs 18:24
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity on the one who falls down and has no one to help them" Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Who you become is who you hang out with. That is why I choose my friends carefully because I want to become the best version of me that God can create me into. That includes having good friends who are also close in their relationship with God and who likes to do a lot of the same stuff as me but are different in their own ways. Friends like that can be hard to find, but are definitely worth the wait. I have a friend who is a lot like me and goes through a lot of the same stuff and it helps me a lot and I thank God for that kind of friendship. God puts in our lives the friends that he wants us to have. He puts them there in our lives at the right time. To encourage us and strengthen us. Also having friends who might have even the same disability as you or has a disability so you two can relate is an extra blessing.
